PTC Windchill

PTC Windchill is the long-standing commercial PLM product from PTC, with deep CAD-data-management roots (Pro/INTRALINK heritage) and tight integration with PTC Creo. It targets discrete-manufacturing customers in industrial machinery, electronics, automotive, aerospace, and medical-device segments.

Context

Windchill was introduced in 1998 as one of the first web-architected PLM products. It is offered on-premises and as Windchill+ (SaaS), and is commonly paired with PTC’s ThingWorx IoT platform to support digital-twin and connected-product use cases.

What it implements

• Part Master and classification with reuse search.
• Document Vault including the legacy Pro/INTRALINK and current Windchill PDM core.
• MBOM vs EBOM via Windchill MPMLink.
• Workflow Engine for change and release processes.
• Digital Thread in conjunction with PTC ThingWorx.
