Part Master

Part Master is the central data object identifying every distinct part, material, or assembly in the product portfolio. Each part-master record typically owns a unique part number, a description, a unit of measure, classification attributes, regulatory and material data, and references to attached CAD models, drawings, and documents.

What it covers

• Identifier and naming (smart vs non-significant numbering schemes).
• Classification taxonomy — hierarchical or attribute-based, with reuse search.
• Material, weight, and regulatory attributes (REACH, RoHS, conflict-mineral declarations).
• Lifecycle state and revision history.
• Sourcing — manufacturer parts vs internal parts, alternates, AVL/AML.
