Autodesk Vault
Autodesk Vault is Autodesk’s PDM (engineering data management) product, providing CAD-aware vaulting, revision control, and lifecycle states for Inventor, AutoCAD, and Revit data. It is most commonly deployed as the engineering data layer underneath Autodesk Fusion Manage to form a complete PDM/PLM stack.
Context
Vault is delivered in three editions — Workgroup, Professional, and Vault Office — and stores files on a managed server with a SQL Server metadata index. It pairs natively with Inventor, AutoCAD Mechanical/Electrical, and Civil 3D, and has rich job-server-driven PDFs/STEP/DWF generation for downstream consumers.
What it implements
- Product Data Management for Autodesk CAD authors.
- Document Vault for non-CAD engineering documents.
Relationships (see sidebar)
- Pairs with Autodesk Inventor as the CAD-side data manager.
- Often deployed in conjunction with Autodesk Fusion Manage for end-to-end PLM.
Vendor
