Part Lifecycle Information (PLI)
Part Lifecycle Information (PLI) is the data object that aggregates per-part status across its full lifetime — design release, supplier qualification, inventory disposition, EOL availability, last-time-buy windows, and replacement parts — so that engineering, sourcing, and service can make obsolescence-aware decisions.
What it covers
- Lifecycle phase (concept, active, mature, NRND, EOL, obsolete).
- Last-time-buy and last-time-ship dates and quantity recommendations.
- Approved Manufacturers List (AML) with status per source.
- Replacement and successor parts for in-service products.
- Compliance and material declarations that change with the lifecycle (REACH, RoHS, conflict minerals).
Relationships (see sidebar)
- Supports the Warranty and Field Feedback, Service and Maintenance, End of Life and Disposal, and Configuration Management processes.
- Implemented by PLM platforms including Siemens Teamcenter, PTC Windchill, Aras Innovator, and Dassault 3DEXPERIENCE.
- Specializes the Part Master with phase-specific data.
