BOM Management
BOM Management is the process of creating, maintaining, and reconciling the multiple views of product structure — engineering, manufacturing, service, sales — so that everyone in the lifecycle sees a consistent, controlled list of what makes up the product. The BOM is one of the few artifacts that touches engineering, supply chain, finance, manufacturing, and service simultaneously.
Scope
The process covers building the eBOM from CAD assemblies, transforming it into the MBOM with manufacturing process steps, configuring per-customer or per-variant BOMs (150% / configurable BOM), generating service and spares BOMs, releasing BOMs to ERP for procurement and MRP, and reconciling discrepancies that emerge through change.
