Multilevel BOM

Multilevel BOM is the indented hierarchical view of a product structure that exposes every level of subassembly, component, and raw material in parent-child relationships. It is the most common BOM presentation in PLM and ERP systems and the basis for cost rollups, where-used queries, and explosion reports.

What it covers

  • Indented parent-child structure with quantity-per and unit-of-measure at each level.
  • Cost roll-up and weight roll-up propagated up the hierarchy.
  • Where-used / pegging analysis — identifying every assembly that consumes a given component.
  • Explosion to a single-level view for purchasing or to a flattened view for kit pulls.
  • Counterpart to the single-level BOM that shows only one tier.
