Flattened BOM
Flattened BOM (also called the summarized or roll-up BOM) collapses every level of a multilevel structure into one consolidated list of leaf-level parts with summed quantities. It hides the hierarchy and reports the total quantity of each unique part required to build the parent product.
What it covers
- Roll-up of quantities across all levels of the indented BOM.
- Procurement and cost views — what to buy and how much, ignoring assembly structure.
- Rare-earth, conflict-mineral, and substance-of-concern reports — easier to audit when flattened.
- Kit pulls and material planning for build-to-stock products.
- Counterpart to multilevel and single-level views.
Relationships (see sidebar)
- Part of the MBOM/EBOM BOM family.
- Supports BOM Management and Supplier Development.
- Implemented by Siemens Teamcenter, PTC Windchill, Aras Innovator, and Oracle Agile.
