PTC ServiceMax

PTC ServiceMax is a field-service-management (FSM) product focused on asset-centric service for high-value equipment in medical devices, industrial machinery, energy, and aerospace. PTC acquired ServiceMax from Silver Lake Partners in 2023 (~$620M), having previously held a partial ownership stake from 2019. The product is built natively on the Salesforce platform but operates as a stand-alone PTC SKU.

Context

ServiceMax distinguishes itself from generic FSM products (Salesforce Field Service, Microsoft Dynamics 365 FSM) by its asset-graph data model — installed-base records are first-class, with deep IoT / digital-twin integration via ThingWorx and asset-aware work-order logic. The acquisition completed PTC’s closed-loop service narrative spanning Windchill → ThingWorx → Vuforia → ServiceMax → Servigistics.
