Siemens Tecnomatix
Siemens Tecnomatix is the manufacturing-simulation and digital-manufacturing module of the Xcelerator portfolio: Plant Simulation for discrete-event throughput modeling, Process Simulate for robotic and human workcell virtual commissioning, and Jack/Process Simulate Human for ergonomics studies. It feeds released MBOMs and routings from Teamcenter into a virtual factory before they are committed to the floor.
Context
Tecnomatix originated at Tecnomatix Technologies (Israel), was acquired by UGS in 2005, and joined Siemens in the 2007 UGS deal. It is the planning/virtual-twin counterpart to Opcenter (execution): together they implement the planning-and-execution sides of the manufacturing-operations digital twin.
What it implements
- Process Simulation and MES — the planning side: line balancing, virtual commissioning, ergonomics.
- DFM / DFA — assembly-feasibility and human-factors review of the design.
Relationships (see sidebar)
- Part of the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio.
- Competes with DELMIA and AnyLogic in the manufacturing-simulation segment.
Vendor
Siemens Digital Industries Software.
