Siemens Capital
Siemens Capital is the electrical and electronic (E/E) systems-engineering suite from Siemens Digital Industries Software, originally Mentor Graphics’ Capital product family. It is the dominant tool at major automotive and aerospace OEMs for designing the vehicle’s electrical architecture, networks, harnesses, and the ECU/software allocations that ride on them.
Context
Capital descends from Mentor Graphics, which Siemens acquired in 2017. It now sits inside the Siemens EDA brand (for the IC pieces) and the broader Xcelerator portfolio (for the systems and harness pieces). It integrates with Teamcenter for variant-aware configuration management of E/E datasets and with NX for harness 3D routing in the vehicle envelope.
What it implements
- Electrical Systems Engineering end-to-end — logical, physical, and manufacturing.
- MBSE for the system-level allocation of functions to ECUs and signals.
- Requirements Traceability through Capital ↔ Polarion / Teamcenter integration.
Relationships (see sidebar)
- Part of the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio.
- Competes with Dassault 3DEXPERIENCE (CATIA Electrical) and Zuken E3.series in E/E deals.
Vendor
Siemens Digital Industries Software (formerly Mentor Graphics).
