Augmented Reality Authoring

Augmented Reality (AR) Authoring is the logical capability of producing AR experiences for manufacturing, service, training, and sales by reusing CAD geometry, work instructions, and PLM-managed configuration data. Instead of shipping a paper or PDF service manual, the technician sees overlay graphics anchored to the physical asset on a tablet or headset.

What it covers

  • 3D content reuse — pulling CAD assemblies and exploded views from PLM into AR scenes.
  • Step-by-step procedure authoring with sequencing, cues, and acceptance checks.
  • Marker, model-target, and SLAM-based recognition of the physical asset.
  • Configuration awareness — the AR experience adapts to the as-built variant.
  • Telemetry capture — completion status, dwell time, and error events fed back to ALM/PLM.
