Dassault GEOVIA
Dassault GEOVIA is the natural-resources / mining brand on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, providing geological modeling, mine planning, scheduling, and reserve estimation tools. It descends primarily from the Gemcom acquisition (2012) — Surpac, GEMS, MineSched, and the Whittle pit-optimization product — and is now delivered as 3DEXPERIENCE roles for the mining and natural-resources industry.
Context
GEOVIA is one of Dassault’s vertical-industry brands. Where CATIA and SIMULIA serve the manufacturing core, GEOVIA targets a different physical world entirely: orebody modeling, reserve estimation, open-pit and underground mine design, and geotechnical analysis.
What it implements
- 3D Design specialized for orebody, terrain, and mine-infrastructure modeling.
- FEA for geomechanical and slope-stability analysis.
Relationships (see sidebar)
- Part of Dassault 3DEXPERIENCE.
- Competes with Hexagon Mining, Bentley/Seequent, and Maptek in mining and resource modeling.
Vendor
Dassault Systèmes (Gemcom acquisition, 2012).
