Requirements Management

Requirements Management is the disciplined process of capturing, analyzing, allocating, baselining, and tracing stakeholder, system, and component requirements throughout the product lifecycle. It is the front-end gate that defines what “done” means before downstream design, simulation, and manufacturing work commences.

Scope

Activities include eliciting needs, writing testable requirements, decomposing them across system levels, allocating to architectural elements, maintaining bidirectional traceability to verification artifacts, and managing change as requirements evolve. Common standards include INCOSE Guide for Writing Requirements, IEEE 29148, and DO-178C/ARP4754A in regulated domains.
